Lisa receives so many requests to answer questionnaires or sign pledges that it is difficult to determine their legitimacy. She was recently asked to sign a “pledge” to abolish ICE which on its face seems simple, however even an answer on one of these supposedly easy forms can be taken out of context and misconstrued. Here is her answer to that request:
Dear Friends,
My 12th grade English teacher warned me about reading statements and being secure in how I should respond. Having also received my Law degree from the University of Wyoming, I have become cautious about taking pledges or making statements without full knowledge of what will be done with my words and thoughts. So I will not sign your pledge. However, I am angered and humiliated by the damages ICE is inflicting on our Constitution in this country. When elected, I will take whatever steps necessary to stop these illegal ICE detention camps. I will work hard with both parties to create new legislation covering immigration that will work for our country. Good luck on your efforts. I will be watching.
