Friends Endorse Lisa for Congress

Three Republican legislators who served with Lisa Kinney have endorsed her for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Former Senator Rex Arney of Sheridan County, Representatives Tom Jones of Park County, and Patti MacMillan of Albany County all served with Kinney when she was a State Senator from Albany County.

Kinney noted that, “I am honored to be endorsed by these three brilliant, hard-working and inspiring former legislators. Many thanks to them for their confidence in me,” Kinney stated. “It is my privilege.”

Senator Arney commented that “I have known Lisa Kinney for more than 40 years. She was on the Senate Judiciary Committee for the four years while I served as chairman. I was impressed with the constructive and meaningful way in which she approached the many important bills that came before our committee. She was all about resolving issues in a bipartisan manner. That is the way she was then and will be if elected to serve as Wyoming’s representative in the House.”

Kinney worked directly with Senator Arney, but also worked with the House to pass bills. “When Lisa had a bill and needed my vote, we would discuss the pros and cons and vice versa,” Representative Jones noted. “For example, she sponsored and passed the “Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care” which was an excellent bill. We all use it today.”

Kinney commented that “Representative Jones was always detailed and involved with questions about bills,” Kinney continued, “but he listened.”

Kinney and MacMillan both served the Albany County constituency, so worked together on many University of Wyoming concerns, also. MacMillan recalled, “Lisa, Senator Dave Nicholas and I talked a lot about what Albany County needed and where we could join forces.”

Kinney finished with the thought that “The beauty of how the Wyoming legislature worked for the 10 years I was in it, is that we looked at the issues facing our constituents and how to solve those problems together. We didn’t always agree, but we all remembered who we served – Wyoming people. It was always about bipartisanship, not divisiveness.” Kinney concluded, “My gratitude to these three friends and colleagues.”
